Dominical can be reached by two main roadways both providing for great driving experiences.
From San Jose: It is a three and a half hour drive from San Jose by car through some of the most visually stunning scenery in the country. Traveling south down the Pan-American Highway below Cartago takes you through the country's largest cloud forest and the worlds last remaining, sustainable habitat, for the endangered quetzal. Take the Panamerican Highway (2) south toward San Isidro. In San Isidro, exit town south on Highway 22. Follow about 40km to the Coastal Highway intersection. Playa Dominical is 1km to the left, just over the bridge.
Buses run daily from San Jose and the trip by bus is only an hour more with one stop and change in San Isidro.
From Quepos: Follow the Coastal Highway 45km south. You will see signs to Playa DominicaI. The drive will take approximately one hour or an additional half hour by bus.
From Panama: Take the Panamerican Highway (2) north from Paso Canoas. Turn at Palmar Norte onto the Coastal Highway, follow north about 1 hour. You will see signs to Playa Dominical.
For your stay at Finca Tecal as well as if you intend to do some exploring in the mountains or continue traveling further north or south, a four wheel drive car is strongly recommended.
